CoSeC
The Computational Science Centre for Research Communities (CoSeC) supports a wide range of computational scientific and engineering communities, through software development, user support and training, and management of scientific data.
CoSeC supports the needs of certified computer professionals and high–end computing (HEC) communities, through:
- Development of theory, algorithms and software, to support continued expansion and updates of software programs
- Maintenance, distribution, license management, dissemination and demonstration of software
- User support and training, including individual support and training, and event organisation support
- Collaboration on scientific projects
- Porting, optimisation and benchmarking for HPC and new architectures
- Management of scientific data, including development of visualisation and workflow management tools, database curation and verification and validation activities
- Co-ordination and networking support, and support for community activities including scientific and executive meetings and visitor programmes
“The CoSeC programme underpins a significant portion of the UK’s computational science activities, supporting new research and forming a focal point for computational science. As the programme paves the way for new developments, we’re working to drive new research for an exciting and transformational future.”
Dr. Stephen Longshaw, Director, CoSeC
Investment to establish community driven Infrastructure for Molecular Biology
The Universities of Sheffield, Southampton, Leicester and Leeds, and the Science and Technology Facilities Council’s (STFC) Computational Science Centre for Research Communities (CoSeC) will collaborate on a community driven project to establish the “Digital Research Infrastructure for Integrative Molecular Biology (DRI-IMB, pronounced ‘dream’).
