CoSeC Welcomes its Inaugural Cohort of Fellows

Pioneering a new generation of ambassadors to advance computational research across diverse disciplines.

The Computational Science Centre for Research Communities (CoSeC), proudly announces the successful selection of its first cohort of CoSeC Fellows. This momentous achievement marks the beginning of an ongoing initiative to inspire and empower a new generation of computational researchers across the UK.

Following a meticulous selection process concluded by a panel of CoSeC experts, 8 distinguished Fellows have been appointed from a competitive pool of applicants. These individuals will serve as influential ambassadors for CoSeC, promoting the Centre’s pioneering work and supporting the CCP model across diverse research fields such as arts, humanities, physical sciences, and engineering.

Fostering Excellence in Research

The newly appointed CoSeC Fellows are set to engage in a 15-month programme that will see them integrating into a vibrant research environment, developing their skills, and actively contributing to CoSeC’s mission of advancing computational capabilities. They will also play a crucial role in broadening the reach and impact of CoSeC across UKRI’s research communities.

Fellowship Highlights:

  • Ambassador Role: Fellows will act as ambassadors for CoSeC, promoting the Centre and the CCP model to wider research communities.
  • Software Development and Problem Solving: They will contribute to developing and strengthening software to tackle increasingly complex problems across various disciplines, including art, humanities, physical sciences, and engineering.
  • Access to Diverse Research Areas: Fellows will benefit from interactions across a broad spectrum of research fields, broadening their insights and expertise.
  • Work in a World-Leading Environment: This experience will enhance Fellows’ skills and knowledge within a top-tier scientific setting.
  • Personal Profile and Career Opportunities: The programme offers Fellows the opportunity to elevate their personal profiles and foster future educational and employment prospects.

As part of the “Once a Fellow, always a Fellow” philosophy, CoSeC Fellows will remain integral members of the Centre’s network beyond the completion of their term. This approach highlights CoSeC’s commitment to fostering long-term relationships and sustained engagement within its research communities.

Looking ahead, CoSeC is excited to expand the cohort with 12 additional Fellows in 2025, continuing its mission to enhance the capabilities and reach of computational research in the UK.
